
Thousands of visitors and conference delegates amassed in Geneva, Switzerland, for the best Passenger Terminal Expo and Conference yet.
Visitors to the event, were greeted by more than 180 exhibitors from all over the world, who were showcasing the very latest innovations for the passenger terminal industry, including baggage handling, security, passenger check-in and seating solutions. This year many companies have used the exhibition as a platform to launch their latest products, services and technologies.
Visitor Karl Smith, senior project manager, Beumer Group, enthused, "This is my first visit to Passenger Terminal Expo. I have just started work on a new project for the Beumer Group, so this is all very new to me. There's loads to see here and my first impressions are very good. The exhibition provides a great networking opportunity and I am learning lots about the industry."
Alongside the exhibition was the integral Passenger Terminal Conference which included presentations from around 250 of the industry’s leading figures. Topics covered included airport design, planning and development, intermodal transport, commercial development, passenger experience, self-service, check-in and baggage processing.
Delegate Joseph Romano, architect at RS&H, said he was pleased to see so many interesting topics on the bill: "The conference is very good this year, but I wish I were more than one person, as there are so many topics being covered it would be good to take in all of them. Primarily the show offers an excellent networking opportunity."
Speaker and delegate, Mohamed Yousif Al-Binfalah, CEO, Bahrain Airport Company, who presented on Bahrain Airport's expansion and refurbishment plans, believes the conference and exhibition helps airports keep on top of industry trends."We have a number of objectives we want to achieve by attending the conference, including networking and touching base with our peers in the industry to help us learn from their experiences," he said. "We also believe the conference will help us remain on top of technological and sustainability developments, it offers a great opportunity to learn from industry leaders. There are a lot of products and services in the exhibition that any airport is in need of in order to keep pace with developments. There isn't any better opportunity than Passenger Terminal Expo where they are all under one roof."
Speaking at the end of what was a very successful show, Tony Robinson, CEO of UKiP Media and Events, the organiser of Passenger Terminal Expo and Conference, said, "The opening day confirmed what we knew was going to be the case that this year's Passenger Terminal Expo was bigger and better than ever before. The show has never been so busy, and feedback from visitors, exhibitors and delegates is fantastic. That is because universally people now say it really is the best airport design, planning and technology event in the industry."
