Nord DriveSystems will present efficient and intelligent LogiDrive drive concepts for airport logistics at Passenger Terminal EXPO in Paris. They enable significant cost reductions through efficient energy-saving motors and a tailored reduction of variants. The new energy-efficient IE5+ synchronous motors from Nord can further increase the drive systems’ efficiency.
The standardized LogiDrive geared motor variants from Nord DriveSystems are specially designed for airport technology, parcel logistics and intralogistics. They are particularly suitable for reducing the number of variants. The compact design saves space and the lightweight aluminum housing enables weight savings of up to 25%. LogiDrive drive units comprise an IE4 synchronous motor with rated power of up to 5.5kW, a two-stage helical bevel gear unit and a NORDAC LINK frequency inverter to be installed close to the motor. With motor efficiency class IE4 and system efficiency class IES2, the drive units achieve excellent efficiencies – especially in the partial load and speed range.
At Passenger Terminal EXPO, Nord will also demonstrate the LogiDrive concept in combination with an energy-efficient latest-generation IE5+ permanent magnet synchronous motor. It has considerably lower losses than the current IE4 series. The compact and unventilated smooth-surface motor achieves high efficiency – at times considerably above efficiency class IE5 – over a wide torque range, making it optimally suitable for operation in intralogistics applications and in the partial load range. The compact IE5+ motor offers high power density with less installation space and will be initially launched in a size for power ranges from 0.25-1.1kW with continuous torque from 1.6-4.8Nm and speeds from 0-2,100min-1.
The motor can be directly mounted according to NEMA or IEC. The motor concept will be gradually extended with more sizes and powers. nsd tupH surface treatment and IP69K protection class are optionally available, as is an integrated mechanical brake. An integrated encoder is part of the standard equipment. The new IE5+ motor can be combined with Nord gear units and drive electronics as a modular system and will be available from the second quarter of 2020.
