Power Stow will use Passenger Terminal EXPO 2020 to showcase its new technology to assist in unloading baggage and cargo from containers and baggage carts to the arrival belt in the sorting area. The Transfer Belt is designed to transfer bags from various types of containers and carts onto the conveyor belt.
Using the Transfer Belt significantly reduces baggage handlers’ workload. Heavy twisting and lifting movements become obsolete, so operators enjoy easier workdays and are more productive.
The operator uses one-third of the lifting force when pulling the bags onto the Transfer Belt compared with equipment that requires lifting and twisting. This semi-automatic unloading method significantly reduces the risk of back and shoulder injuries, resulting in better working conditions and less sick leave.
This unloading technology facilitates faster baggage handling and continuous performance even during peak periods. Using the Transfer Belt, a single operator can handle a large number of items efficiently and ergonomically.
The Transfer Belt also makes the baggage handling gentler as it transfers bags from the cart to the baggage conveyor. The operator simply slides the bags onto the Transfer Belt, which then guides the baggage onto the conveyor belt. The risk of damage to baggage is significantly lower, the results of which include lower costs and more satisfied passengers.
The Transfer Belt is a retrofittable device and an add-on to new or existing arrival belts. Whether a new baggage hall or retrofitting existing systems, the solution fits perfectly with any baggage handling system (BHS). Power Stow can integrate the solution seamlessly into existing installations in any airport baggage hall.
