At Passenger Terminal EXPO, CEM Systems will be showcasing how its AC2000 Airport security management system can be deployed beyond access control to create smarter, more efficient airports. Hardware devices including the latest S3050 portable reader and the revolutionary Emerald intelligent IP access terminal will also be on display.
CEM Systems’ Emerald is a smart, touchscreen reader with integrated VoIP intercom and a range of applications that enable airports to use their access control terminals for other business functions beyond just security. These include using the access control terminal to aid airport boarding/deplaning route management; flight arrivals control mode for effectively routing international and domestic flight arrivals; and fixed ground power usage for airline power consumption reporting and charging.
CEM Systems will also display its latest portable reader. The S3050 portable reader is a lightweight, rugged handheld card-reading device for remote security checks. In airports it can be used in a wide range of scenarios where remote security is paramount. For example, it can be used by a security guard either in a patrolling mode within predefined airport zones, or at fixed temporary locations where there is no power, to verify that a cardholder is authorized to be at that airside/landside location.
CEM Systems and Tyco recently carried out the redevelopment of Oman Airports with new state-of-the-art terminal facilities and technologies. Oman Airports manages and operates all civil airports in the Sultanate of Oman. As a result of growth in the aviation sector in the Middle East, Salalah, Duqm and Muscat International airports were all recently redeveloped.
To protect the growing number of passengers and new high-tech terminal buildings, Oman Airports required an advanced access control solution that not only incorporated the latest advances in technology but also had proven resilience within the aviation industry. With 30 years’ experience in securing airports around the world, the CEM Systems AC2000 airport security management system was the ideal solution.
“The flexibility and high quality offered by the CEM AC2000 security management system was a key factor in its suitability for Oman Airports. Using one single airport-renowned access control provider and standardized intelligent CEM hardware across our three airports, we believe we have set the standard for seamless, best-in-class airport security management within the Middle East,” said Ali Bagheri, head of security systems, Oman Airports.
