Airport automation optimization
PDC

PDC will present its airport optimization strategies, including its data entry platform and its workforce estimations automation.

By implementing a platform where the data is entered by the customer themselves, airports are able to automate as much of the dataflow as possible, reduce human errors and minimize manual workflows without actually cutting the workflows out. For example, if a GA flight wants to land in a small airport. The airport gives the pilot an internet platform where he can enter his landing request, get a quote and do a reservation on his credit card for the estimated amount. This operation can be automated to a degree where only an acknowledgment from the airport is necessary. This cuts out the manual process of airport staff typing in all the information, while also ensuring a higher data quality by minimizing human errors.

Another of the company’s airport optimization strategies is workforce estimation automation. This solution operates by looking at the flight schedule for the next months as well as the available seats combined with the historical seat use degree for a given day. These datasets can then be used as input to a general workforce planning module. According to the company, big airports already have expensive software modules for this, but smaller airports can also benefit from the above technique for very little money.
