Lidar tracking in airports is rapidly evolving

The Amorph lidar solution for passenger tracking and line management has been launched as Amorph.senses. Since it was first demonstrated at Passenger Terminal Expo 2022 in Paris, the solution has rapidly evolved and has been deployed for additional uses including retail effectiveness analysis, IATA LoS monitoring, intrusion detection and monitoring adherence to security processes.

Key new features include a simulation-based implementation-planning tool and a user interface enabling customers to independently manage frequent changes in the layout of monitored areas. The user reconfigurability is important because up-to-date layout data ensures accurate monitoring results and avoids the delays and/or costs associated with changes that must be made by vendors.

Analytics and the uses listed above depend on perception software that processes the point cloud data produced by lidar sensors. Amorph.senses is innovative in that it includes the perception software layer as well as the analytics layer. Having control over the complete software solution is what enables constant innovation and rapid evolution. New developments in the pipeline include curbside monitoring and vehicle tracking.

At Passenger Terminal Expo 2024 the latest features will be showcased and it will be possible to explore how specific needs at different airports can be solved with lidar.
