Delivering passenger announcements to cell phones
AviaVox

New technology from AviaVox provides tailored, real-time flight information to any passenger’s device, but is particularly useful for people with hearing loss or who find airports stressful. It is also ideally suited for ‘silent airport’ policies.

Passengers with hearing loss have traditionally relied on audio frequency induction loop systems (AFILS) in the airport. However, there are real limitations with loop systems.

PAstream offers a flexible, cost-effective alternative for passengers with hearing impairments, including those who are profoundly deaf. They can receive the text-based push notifications described above, but there is also an audio option that allows passengers to play and repeat messages using either simple earbuds/headphones or via a Bluetooth-enabled hearing aid paired to the user’s cell phone. And there’s no need for hardware and wiring; passengers can connect instantly using a QR code and they don’t even need to use the airport app.

This solution is also ideal for passengers who find the bustle and noise of an airport to be overwhelming and distressing. These individuals may either ignore PA announcements altogether or retreat behind headphones/earbuds. This can include those with hidden disabilities and neurodivergent conditions, especially autism and ADHD. Find out more at the company's booth in Frankfurt.
