Predictive maintenance and powerful BHS software
Siemens Logistics GmbH

As the saying goes ‘prevention is better than cure’ and with Siemens Logistics’ innovative SmartService portfolio, this proves to be the case.

Airports and ground handlers benefit from optimized just-in-time maintenance scheduling and execution, made possible by sensors continuously collecting data on the condition of components such as rollers and carriers. Machine learning algorithms then analyze and evaluate the input, matching them to patterns in historical data. Irregularities can be identified, compared with current values, and then fixed with just-in-time measures.

Such predictive analytics minimizes unplanned downtime and enables better visibility into system health. Airports can realize higher operational availability, greater efficiency and boost competitiveness.

Siemens Logistics will also be talking to expo visitors about baggage handling systems. To run smoothly and efficiently, a BHS depends on reliable high-level control (HLC) software – BagIQ is the company's latest such software. Practical new features include bag flow simulations and emulations, access to archive information and resource planning.

BagIQ reduces the clustering of different operator control systems and interfaces and boosts the efficiency of the entire conveyor system. The software provides end-to-end condition monitoring, regardless of whether the solutions come from Siemens Logistics or third-party providers. With BagIQ, airports can get more out of their existing baggage handling system simply by upgrading, without replacing any hardware.
